Bengaluru Keen To Continue Indian Super League Ascent As Busy December Awaits
Bengaluru FC will be keen to add points to the board as a fixture-filled December begins with a clash against ATK Mohun Bagan at the Kanteerava Stadium, in Bengaluru, on Saturday. The encounter, one of five the Blues will take part in this month, comes after Grayson’s men ran out 2-0 winners against FC Goa last weekend.
“I was delighted to see the reaction from the players in Goa. I mentioned that there seemed to be an edge to the players in training, and they took that into the game. When you suffer a defeat like we did in Mumbai, there has to be a reaction and there was. We have to continue improving, keep working hard and believing in ourselves,” Grayson said, addressing members of the media on Thursday.
Juan Ferrando’s ATK Mohun Bagan are placed fourth on the ISL table, with 13 points from seven games. The Mariners ran out 1-0 winners against Hyderabad FC on Saturday, and Grayson mentioned that his side would have to be at their best to take anything away from the game.
“Our approach to this game is no different from our approach to any other game. ATK Mohun Bagan are a really good team, and are coming into this game off the back of a good result. We know their strengths and weaknesses and what we do at the weekend boils down to what happened last weekend. More Bengaluru FC players won individual battles against FC Goa, and we need to keep that going,” Grayson added.
Midfielder Javi Hernandez scored twice for the Blues at the Fatorda, ending a run of four goalless games for his side. While the visitors will be without the services of Finnish midfielder Joni Kauko, who has been ruled out for the rest of the season, Bengaluru will be without striker Prince Ibara, with the Congo international having undergone surgery.
Kick-off between the Blues and ATK Mohun Bagan is scheduled for 7.30 pm and will be telecast live on the STAR Sports Network, Jio TV and Disney+Hotstar. Match tickets are available on PayTM Insider.
