Bengaluru, RoundGlass share spoils in Bellary

Omang, Lalthangliana On Target As League Stage Of U18 JSW Youth Cup Concludes With 1-1 Result

Bengaluru FC split the points with RoundGlass Punjab FC after a second half goal from Omang Dodum (67’) canceled out Lalthangliana’s opener (39’) to ensure that RPFC stay undefeated at the end of the League stage of the U18 JSW Youth Cup, in Bellary.

The Blue Colts took the game to RoundGlass Punjab FC in the first half, creating multiple opportunities in the final third. Emboklang Nongkhlaw’s inch perfect cross for Lalhminchhuanga created an opening but the midfielder’s effort went just wide of the mark. The chances kept coming as Lalpekhlua attacked both flanks with pace and power.

Lalthangliana finally converted one of the opportunities after picking up a loose pass right outside the 18-yard box before striking it low and hard beyond the reach of Aayush Deshwal in goal to give the Blue Colts the lead.

The second half saw RoundGlass bring on Sunil Soren, whose introduction helped the visitors bring themselves back into the game. The midfielder carried the ball into the Blue Colts’ box multiple times, providing inch perfect passes to his teammates.

With Bengaluru pushed into their own half, Omang leveled the scores after a quick attack from RPFC saw the forward pick up the ball and smash it through the hands of Manik Baliyan to make it 1-1 seven minutes past the hour mark.

Bengaluru FC looked to regain the lead but were found wanting in the final third, despite creating several opportunities. The result meant the Blue Colts ended their campaign in third position with seven points from four games, while RoundGlass Punjab FC finished second with eight points.

Bengaluru will face Roundglass Punjab FC in the first semifinal of the JSW Youth Cup on 25th March, at the same venue, while Dempo SC take on Reliance Foundation in the other encounter.
