Bengaluru FC Academy teams claim top honours in DPDL, KSFA Leagues

U8s Lift Double Pass Development League Trophy, U10s Claim KSFA Youth Premier League Title

Bengaluru FC’s Academy teams lifted two trophies in as many competitions, with victories in the U10 KSFA Youth Premier League and U8 Double Pass Development League over the last week. The teams, who train three times a week at the Bangalore Football Stadium, continue their progression through the ranks as part of the club’s non-residential day-boarding academy.

“We’re really glad to see many of these children climb up the age groups and progress through the ranks. Some of them have been in our system for four or five years, and it gives us great joy to see them enjoying their football and improving on a daily basis,” said Suhel Nair, the Technical Head of Grassroots and BFC Soccer Schools.

While Bengaluru FC’s U10s beat Black Panthers in the final of the KSFA Youth Premier League, the U8s claimed a shootout win over Boca Juniors FA in the final of the Double Pass Development League, having lost out to them on a coin-toss in the KSFA YPL only one week earlier.

“It’s not about winning or losing; it’s about seeing these players move up the ranks and improve themselves on a daily basis. Some of our players have represented the U8s and then moved into the U10s seamlessly and that is promising to see. This is a system we implemented years ago and to see it come together and work for the players is a great feeling,” said club CEO, Mandar Tamhane.

Jordan Mobin Paul (Player of the Year – U10s), Kaustub Poojari (Player of the Year – U8s), Eklavya Goenka (Player of the Final – U8s), Sabari Vasan (Defender of the Year) and Anirudh Srikanth (Innovative Player of the Year – U8s) picked up individual accolades, while BFC U8s Head Coach Jeevan Jayaraj was named the Coach of the Year in his category at the Double Pass Development League.
