‘I don’t believe we’ve lost any momentum’

Interim Boss Naushad Moosa Spoke To Us Following The Blues’ Goalless Draw Against Chennaiyin FC At The Fatorda…

On the way the game panned out…

To tell you the truth, we were fortunate to come away with the point. Chennaiyin FC had a lot of chances to score but couldn’t. The way we played the first half is not the way we want to. We made some changes and did better in the second half and had more of the ball which is what we wanted.

On a second clean sheet in as many games…

It is great that we have had two clean sheets in the last two games. It shows that we are doing better at the back, and it gives confidence to our backline. Gurpreet pulled off a few fantastic saves as well last night. But when you look at the points table, I think it is more important to get wins at the moment.

On the injuries to his side…

Injuries are a problem but we have to play with what we got and we have to be professional about it. I won’t moan about the fact that we have injuries or anything like that because it’s a contact sport, and injuries are a part of the game.

On the way his side approached the game…

We could’ve controlled the game better in the first half, the way we did with East Bengal. I think that would’ve been better and if we were more composed, we could’ve created some better chances. We had to be more compact with the way they were using the flanks. The way Lanzarote moved the ball around, we had to be careful.

On the effect of a draw on his side’s chances of making the playoffs…

I don’t believe we have lost any momentum with the draw, because the boys are giving their best. We know the importance of the matches that are coming up. We’re playing some really good sides in the upcoming games, so we have to be careful.
