Interim Coach Naushad Moosa Spoke About His Side’s Defeat To Kerala Blasters, Playing Chhetri In A Central Position, Amay’s Performance And More…
On the team’s performance…
We could have scored more goals, we certainly created a lot of chances. In the second half, we hit the post and were making inroads. When Leon (Augustine) came on, he added to our attack. I think towards the end we were just not lucky enough. The boys certainly tried their best. We weren’t happy with the one-goal lead and we weren’t sitting back. We were attacking, moving the ball around well but unfortunately couldn’t score.
On the goals conceded….
If you see the goals we conceded, you could see that Gurpreet was down and we thought that the referee would stop the game. But, that said, the defence should have cleared the ball. Even then, the way the boys played today; we were really compact and the boys followed the instructions that were given.
On moving Chhetri into a central role…
The idea behind playing Sunil [Chhetri] centrally was to have him and Udanta [Singh] against a defence that plays with a high line. We wanted to use Udanta’s speed and Sunil’s reach to catch them off guard. We were successful most of the time during the game, just unlucky not to add to the goal. Sunil was all over the pitch today, and gave his 100% in the 90 minutes. He was working hard for the team, and leading by example.
On the performance of Amay and the youngsters…
I have always said I want to give more youngsters time on the pitch. I wanted to add more youngsters but the team was settled and playing well so I didn’t want to change anything and disrupt that. Amay [Morajkar] played a wonderful game, he was very good with the ball and stepped into Dimas Delgado’s shoes very well.
On hopes of making the playoff spots…
It’s going to be hard but we are trying our best. We have not been lucky in converting our chances into goals and we will continue to work on that. At Bengaluru FC, we don’t give up and as a group we will come together and keep fighting.
