“It was a physical game, and it’s about dynamics”

The Boss Spoke To Us About His Side’s Defeat To Jamshedpur FC At The Fatorda On Monday…

On the game against Jamshedpur FC…

It was a physical game, similar to the game against ATK Mohun Bagan. We knew about it, we know the league and we were fighting until the end as we did in the last game. We created many chances through Suresh (Wangjam), Sunil (Chhetri), Cleiton (Silva) and the strikers.

On Suresh Wangjam’s performance…

Suresh is a great player and we are very happy with him. But the team isn’t only about him, we have a good squad that do the job and we are happy to have Suresh with us.

On the left-back position…

The situation with Ashique (Kuruniyan) is known. We are missing a player who has been doing very well for us and one of the best left-backs in the League this season. He is recovering and now we have to try other options. I gave Ajith (Kumar) a few minutes in the end because I wanted to try him in that position. But it is a new competition for him, with a new team and he needs time to adapt.

On the performances so far this season…

Football is a game of dynamics. When you score one goal, you tend to go and get more. When you miss chances, as we did in the first half, it is difficult. That was also in my half time talk, I asked the players to remain positive because they had their heads down after missing all those chances. That’s how football is. When you don’t score you get stressed more. It is all in the dynamics of the game.

On Fran’s substitution and the second half tactics…

We wanted to have more of the ball with the fresh legs on the pitch. That’s why the change was made. I am very happy with Erik (Paartalu) but with Fran (Gonzalez) we wanted to get more passes in the middle and also look for the wingers. As a coach, I am always looking to try things that can help the team and it was one of those decisions.
