Happy that we didn’t relax at any point in the game: Cuadrat

The Boss Discusses The Record Win, Khabra’s Impressive Performance, Individual Challenges And More…

On the big win to seal progression…

Every goal is important because it affects some dynamics – Individually more than the team. For example, it was good for Brown to score many goals, as well as Nili to get his first. It looks like a big result, but there are a lot of things happening in the middle. And one of the things that I’m very happy about is that the team didn’t relax in any point in the game. I think won today by showing a lot of respect for the opponent because we weren’t making any fancy tricks in the game. We played normal football and of course as a football player you want to score goals. But we did so by showing a lot of respect for the other team.  For us, it was really nice to see Chencho clapping to the supporters at the end of the game. So, I think we have to be happy with the game tonight.

On Khabra’s impressive performance…

Khabra is a top professional and he’s giving us a lot season after season. Maybe he isn’t receiving the plaudits in the media, but as a coach, you always want to have a player like Khabra in your team. He was not playing in the last game because of a suspension, so he was able to give 90 minutes tonight.

On Paro’s performance over two legs…

I appreciate the team and their coach as well. He is a very good coach and he’s teaching the team to play very well. I really have a lot of respect for the way they play, because they’ve been building up game from the back with some quality players. I think that they are doing a lot of good things for football in Bhutan.

On the difference between the two legs…

There are a lot of circumstances that make a difference. For example, the travel makes it difficult because it’s a long one as well as the weather was tough to deal with. The surface was another factor because playing on an artificial surface is a completely different proposition. I think that Paro suffered today at Kanteerava because of the surface. On a natural pitch, the speed of the game is very different. So, all of these kinds of things are affecting the teams. They have wonderful supporters, and they were helping them over 90 minutes in the first leg. So, these things are quite normal in football. It was quite an equal game until 3-1, because at 2-1 there’s just one goal in it and it’s football, and anything can happen. But when you increase your lead, it starts affecting the other team subconsciously. They start going down, losing the one-on-one battles and other aspects of the game. The mood of all the players starts going a little bit down so it’s easier to play for a team which is winning. But in another situation they had the capability to put us in trouble given their football concepts and individual qualities.

On Gill brothers playing together for the first time…

Yeah, it’s so good for the Gill family. It was a good opportunity Prabhsukhan who made his first start of the season. He was doing a very good job with Gursimrat in defence as well. The brothers have to be proud of the work that they’re doing for us this season.

On if a big win motivates the team to perform better in other competitions…

It’s more about individual challenges that every player has. I am very happy that Brown has scored, Nili has scored and even Semboi got four after missing the big opportunity against Chennai. So, the result helps, not maybe completely as a team but definitely from an individual point of view.

On the Club’s youth structure producing players…

I have been with the club for four years now and I know how things have been working. I have to say that the Academy is really working well and the players are getting opportunities at a high level. Parag played 25 minutes in the ISL last season, but has been working hard in the shadows while playing games for the B team. Finally, he had a chance to play 90 minutes against Paro FC. Even with Leon, he made his debut in the AFC Cup two seasons ago but has been working hard improving himself with the B team and got a good assist today. I think that we have a good criterion for developing the talents and give them the opportunities to express themselves and be top professionals.
