Lalthangliana, Ratanbi Bag Braces In 7-0 Rout At BFS
Bengaluru: Bengaluru FC built on their impressive winning run, brushing aside FC Madras 7-0 in a one-sided affair in the Hero Elite League at the Bengaluru Football Stadium, on Sunday. The Blue Colts had five different scorers on the afternoon as they extended their dominance at the top of the Chennai-Bengaluru group with a fifth straight win, moving to 15 points from five games.
Attacker Lalthangliana (2’, 45’) and Ratanbi Singh Chaphamayum (81’, 89’) scored a brace in either half, along with Bekey Oram (10’), Sridarth Nongmeikapam (30’), and Akashdeep Singh (47’) who also found the back of the net.
After a late win in the last round over Raman Vijayan Soccer Schools, Naushad Moosa’s boys left nothing to chance and struck twice inside the opening ten minutes. Lalthangliana found the back of the net from close range in the opening 100 seconds, before Bekey tapped in from close at the far post on a corner. Sridarth then scored his third of the campaign at the half-hour mark followed by Lalthangliana’s second of the afternoon in the final minute of the first half.
The Blue Colts began the second half exactly in the same fashion as the first with Akashdeep netting with a fine volley inside two minutes. The striker did well to time his shot to perfection at the far post after weak clearance found him unmarked in the box on an attack from the left.
Substitute Ratanbi Singh completed the rout with a double in the final ten minutes. First, he curled it from the edge of the box before the ball hit the underside of the bar and went in in the 81st minute before scoring another long ranger a minute from the full-time whistle.
Bengaluru FC now host Chennaiyin FC in the next round at the Bengaluru Football Stadium on January 15th.
