Academy Side Claims 2-0 Win Over Bangalore Soccer Galaxy To Make Summit Clash As U9s, U7s Bow Out In Semifinals
Bengaluru: Bengaluru FC’s Academy U11 side booked a place in the final of the Double Pass Development League with a 2-0 win over Bangalore Soccer Galaxy at the Kicks on Grass Arena, in Bellandur, on Sunday. Goals from Sehajvir Singh and Rayuel Beale sent the young Blues through, after a 4-0 quarterfinal defeat of Goal FS.
Consistent performances in the League stages had seen the Bengaluru FC U11s finish in second place in the League stages, three points behind Bangalore City FC, who are the other finalists. Sehajvir, who scored twice in the quarterfinal, took his tally to 43 goals in the category, six more than any other player.
In the younger age groups, the BFC U7s and U9s bowed out at the semifinal stage, with losses to FCB Academy (U9) and MRUFC (U7). Both sides had claimed 4-0 wins in their quarterfinal clashes, but couldn’t get past the penultimate stage in the competition.
“This has been a great experience for our players and I’m sure that the number of games they have played has helped them massively. I’m looking forward to the U11 final, and to having some of these young players come through the ranks into the higer age groups and hopefully represent the club’s first team someday,” said Academy Coach Rajan Mani.
Kick-off in the final of the U11 Double Pass Development League is at 12.15 on Sunday 19th January, 2020.
