Bengaluru FC down Roots Football School 6-1 in Sub-Junior League

Yaiphathoi Magsatabam Nets Five As Young Blues Turn Around Tie In Second Half

Bengaluru: A splendid second-half comeback helped Bengaluru FC defeat Roots Football School 6-1 in a Hero Sub-Junior League encounter at the FSV Arena in Hennur, on Sunday. Substitute Yaiphathoi Magsatabam netted five (51’, 53’, 57’, 58’, 70’) while Ayush Goel (64’) added another in a brilliant display by the Young Blues as they secured their third win on the bounce.

The win took Bengaluru FC’s tally to 9 points from three games as they maintain pole position in Group A of the Bengaluru Zone.

In a game of two halves, it was Roots Football School who took the lead after Gavin Rasquinha (35’) struck right at the stroke of half time. Trailing by a goal going into the second half, Ajay Chorge’s boys turned the tie around in the final twenty minutes pumping six past a helpless Roots FS defence.

Substitute striker Yaiphathoi who replaced Lalpekhlua in the 44th minute took just seven minutes to score the equalizer. He struck two more in the 53rd and 57th minute to complete his quick-fire hat-trick before adding a fourth a minute later. Ayush Goel made it 5-1 in the 64th minute, before Yaiphathoi scored his fifth in the final minute of the game to seal a massive 6-1 win.

Bengaluru FC now face Raman Sports Academy at the Centre for Sports Excellence in Yelahanka on February 2.
