Blue Colts End Zonal Campaign Unbeaten Atop Chennai-Bengaluru Group In Elite League
Chennai: Bengaluru FC ended the first round of their campaign in the Hero Elite League with a 5-1 victory over Chennaiyin FC at the SSN Football Ground in Chennai, on Sunday. The Blue Colts, who had secured a berth in the final phase of the competition, claimed their eleventh win of the zonal phase while remaining unbeaten throughout.
After twelve rounds, Naushad Moosa’s boys finished on top of the Chennai-Bengaluru Group with 34 points, well ahead of second-placed Raman Vijayan Soccer School (24 pts) who have a game in hand.
After a goalless first-half at the SSN Football Ground, Bengaluru FC broke the deadlock in the 59th minute through Ronik Singh Moirangthem before Akashdeep Singh (73’, 79’) scored on either side of Sujith S’ (76’) only goal for Chennaiyin. Bekey Oram (81’) and Jagdeep Singh (90+3’) added to Bengaluru’s tally in the final ten minutes to wrap up a well-deserved 5-1 win.
