Monirul Bags Second Treble As Blues Consolidate Top Spot

Bellary: Bengaluru FC made it three wins in a row after a dominant 6-2 victory over Bhaichung Bhutia Football Schools in the Hero Junior League at the Vidyanagar Township in Bellary on Tuesday. Monirul Molla (27’, 37’, 68’) bagged a second hat-trick of the campaign while Longjam Sheitam (12’, 27’) scored a brace. Substitute Gogocha Chungkham (64’) scored BFC’s sixth while Abhishek H (18’) and Muhammed Salahudeen (75’) got on the score sheet for the visitors.

With another big win in the zonal phase, Sachin Badadhe’s boys further strengthened their spot atop the Group B standings in the Karnataka Zone with 9 points from three games.

The Junior Blues who began in dominating fashion took the lead when Sheitam finished off Macarton Louis Nickson’s corner in from the left in the 12th minute. The lead just lasted six minutes with BBFS equalizing at the other end when striker Abhishek H found himself on the end of Sai Chaithanya’s cross from the right and he made no mistake in firing home from close.

Badadhe’s boys then struck in quick succession at the other end to take back the lead. Monirul got BFC’s second, finishing off Sarath’s clever lobbed pass over the rival defence before Sheitam completed his brace a minute later.

Bengaluru made it 4-1 going into the breather when Monirul got his second of the game, this time finding the back of the net with a solo effort in the 37th minute.

Substitute Gogocha netted the hosts’ fifth in the 64th minute before Monirul completed his second hat-trick in as many games four minutes later, latching on to a perfect cross from Ishaan Raghunanda.

The visitors struck in the final quarter of the game through Muhammed Salahudeen to reduce the deficit, but Bengaluru managed to hold on to a big win.

Bengaluru FC now play Jain Academy away on January 20.
