Blue Colts rout Dream United to go top of BDFA Super Division

Advait Scores Hat-trick As Naushad Moosa’s Boys Run Out 8-0 Winners

Bengaluru: Advait Shinde scored three times as his Bengaluru FC side cruised to a third straight win, hammering Bangalore Dream United 8-0 in a Round-7 encounter of the BDFA Super Division League at the Bengaluru Football Stadium, in Bengaluru, on Tuesday.

In what was a completely one-sided affair, striker Shinde (30’, 39’, 90’) bagged his first-ever hat-trick, as five other players – Biswa Darjee (55’), Leon Augustine (62’), Muhammed Rafi (64’), Fredy Chawngthansanga (77’) and Namgyal Bhutia (90+2’) – all got their names on the scoresheet.

The win was also Bengaluru FC’s biggest of the campaign so far, as they moved to the summit of the Super Division standings with 16 points (GD +18), ahead of Ozone FC (16, GD +8) on goal difference.

Earlier, Coach Naushad Moosa rang in two changes to the side that faced MEG last week, as Bekey Oram and Advait Shinde returned to the starting line-up in place of Suresh Wangjam and Edmund Lalrindika.

After easing into the pace of the game, the Blue Colts took a grip of things at the half hour mark when they broke the deadlock following a well-taken set-piece. Winger Naorem Roshan Singh, who had run over the ball as a decoy, returned to curl in a free kick from the right flank to find Advait. The punt caught the Dream United defence unawares, and the striker rose high to score with a glancing header past the rival custodian.

Nine minutes later, the Colts doubled their lead when Leon cut into the box on the right and chipped a cross at the far post to find Advait, who controlled the ball before slotting home to make it 2-0 going into the breather.

Moosa’s boys continued to dominate in the second half and increased their lead just ten minutes after the restart. A quick break saw Advait turn provider for Biswa, who slid it through the goalkeeper’s legs after taking the ball in his stride.

Leon, who netted a treble in the previous game, got his first and the Colts’ fourth of the game when a move from the left saw Advait cut past a couple of defenders on the edge of the box, before finding Bhutia on the right. The defender beat his marker to control the ball and then cut it back to Leon who tapped it home at the first post.

Bhutia created another goal just two minutes later, as he made his way into the box, going past five rival defenders on the right before setting up fellow defender Rafi for an easy tap in at the far post.

Moosa rung in three changes in the second half as U18 players Dipesh Chauhan, Fredy and Lalthangliana joined the fray. Chawnthansanga made it 6-0 in the 77th minute with a calm finish, as Moosa’s boys matched their tally from the previous game.

The Colts then capitalized on defensive errors to score two more in the final minutes of the game, to make it 8-0 on the evening. Advait completed his hat-trick when he dispossessed an opponent and finished from close in the 90th minute. Into injury time, it was Bhutia who netted his first of the season when Roshan exchanged passes with Biswa down the flank before setting him up on a counter, and Bhutia scored with an easy tap in.

Bengaluru FC now face Bangalore Independents on Saturday, December 14th.
