Bekey Oram Grabs Three Assists And One Goal In 5-0 Win Over Mumbai-Based Side
Ajay Chorge’s Bengaluru FC side claimed a convincing 5-0 win over Iron Born FC in their second Group D clash of the Hero Junior League at the YBK Training Ground, in Kolkata, on Thursday. Midfielder Bekey Oram had three assists and a goal to his name, while defender Manish Chaudhary scored a brace.
Starting on the front-foot, it took just five minutes for the Young Blues to break the deadlock through Manish. Spotting the overlapping run, Damiatphang Lyngdoh fed Bekey Oram down the right flank, and the midfielder’s cross found an arriving Manish, who tapped home at the far post.
Ten minutes later, Lastborn Mawphniang added his name to the scoresheet. After some neat interplay between Bekey and Alfred, the midfielder lobbed the ball over the Iron Born defence, and Mawphniang, beating the offside trap, scored past Iron Born ‘keeper Piyush Gupta. Winning possession soon after the restart, the Young Blues made it 3-0 with an Alfred Lalroutsang strike. Bekey turned provider for a third time on the evening, as his pass through the channel found Alfred in on goal, who sent the ‘keeper the wrong way before slotting home.
In what was the last action of the first half, Manish scored his second and the Young Blues’ fourth goal in injury time. Lalhmunmawia’s seething run down the right flank culminated in a floated cross that the defender climbed high to nod into the back of the net. Bengaluru chose to keep possession and recycle play for most parts of the second period, but Bekey Oram had the final say as he earned his name on the scoresheet. Played into a dangerous area, Bekey turned into space before placing it at the far corner, rounding up a dominant performance for Chorge’s side.
“I’m really happy with the performance that my boys have put in today. Iron Born are a really good side, and my players have taken what was discussed in training into the game and executed it well. We have another game to go and we will rest, recover and prepare well for that,” said Head Coach Ajay Chorge.
Bengaluru FC next face FC Madras in their final Group D game of the Hero Junior League, on Thursday.
