Akashdeep Scores In Second Consecutive Game As Both Sides Share A Point Each
Goa: Bengaluru FC U18s were held to a 1-1 draw by SESA Football Academy in an entertaining Vedanta Youth Cup second round encounter at the SFA Ground in Sirsaim, Goa on Wednesday. Aakashdeep Singh (60’) put Blue Colts ahead in the second half before Aston Rodriguez (80’) levelled scores in the final ten minutes for the home side as both teams shared spoils.
With a point from this game, the Blue Colts moved to four points from two games staying on top of the standings, while SESA opened their account moving to 1 point after their opening day loss to Tata FA.
Coach Naushad Moosa opted to field the same team from the first game in this early morning kick off as the Blue Colts looked to build on their impressive start. The first half saw both sides fight hard, but with a strong defensive show at either end, they struggled to produce a goal.
For the second consecutive game, the Blue Colts took the lead in the second half, and it was striker Akashdeep who broke the deadlock at the hour mark. Defender Jagdeep Singh raced down the right flank to control a perfect through ball by playmaker Damaitphang Lyngdoh before going past the advanced SESA ‘keeper with an intelligent turn. Jagdeep then cut it back to find Akashdeep who timed his run well to tap it in with ease and take his tally to two goals in the competition.
The lead lasted only twenty minutes as the hosts pulled level with ten minutes to go. A quick short corner played on the left saw attacker Yangmaso Ramsan float in a good cross to find Aston who headed it in at the far post to make it 1-1.
Bengaluru FC now play Tata Atletico Football Academy in their final group stage game on Friday, September 27.
