Vedanta Youth Cup: Bengaluru FC U18 down Tata Football Academy 2-0

Blue Colts Finish On Top; Face RFYC In The Play-Offs

Goa: Bengaluru FC U18 built on their unbeaten run with a comfortable 2-0 win over Tata Atletico Football Academy in their final group stage game in the Vedanta Youth Cup at the Sesa FA Ground in Sirsaim, Goa on Friday. Goals from substitute Ronik Singh (44’) and Jagdeep Singh (46’) minutes apart on either side of the break handed Blue Colts all three points as they sealed the top spot ahead of the play-offs.

Going into the game, Coach Naushad Moosa made a couple of changes handing starts to Robin Yadav and Ngangom Gunendro in place of Johnson Singh and Ronik Singh.

In a battle of the two unbeaten teams in the competition, it was the Blue Colts who broke the deadlock a minute before the break. Midfielder Bekey Oram played a quick give-and-go with Fredy Chawngthansanga in the middle to create space, before finding substitute Ronik on the left flank. The attacker who replaced the injured Lalthangliana in the first half, kept his composure to find the back of the net at the far post past the TFA custodian.

A minute post the restart, the Blue Colts doubled their lead when defender Jagdeep Singh got himself on the scoresheet. Once again, it was Bekey who created the opening finding Ronik on the left who cut into the box past his marker. He then found left-back Jagdeep who made an overlapping run before controlling and slotting the ball home at the near post.

Bengaluru FC controlled most of the proceedings thereafter sealing a second win in the group stage. The win took their tally to seven points and confirmed their spot in the 1st and 2nd place play-offs on Sunday where they face off against Reliance Foundation Young Champs who beat hosts SESA Football Academy 3-0 to clinch the second place in the group standings.
