Blue Colts go down to RFYC in Sub Junior League final

Rajan Mani’s Side Fall To 3-0 Defeat In Summit Clash In Goa

Bengaluru FC went down 3-0 to Reliance Foundation Young Champs in the final of the Hero Sub Junior League, at the Don Bosco Ground, in Goa, on Wednesday. Goals from Prantik Saha (26’), Supratim Das (32’) and Harsh Vaghela (57’) gave the RFYC side top honours in the Youth League competition.

The Blue Colts began the game on the offense, but RFYC found their feet and dominated proceedings after the early exchanges. Saha scored the opener for RFYC, latching onto a pass from Karthick Thirumalai in the box before slotting past Priyansh Dubey in the BFC goal. Six minutes later, Priyansh’s clearance fell at the feet of Supratim, who lobbed from distance to double the advantage.

Into the second period, Rajan Mani chose to replace Hridaya Jain with Aditya Yogesh in the Bengaluru backline. Skipper Gautam Rajesh came close for the Blue Colts with an effort from 20 yards out that cannoned off the crossbar. In the 57th minute, a neat bit of interplay in midfield between Supratim and Harsh Palande allowed RFYC to send Vaghela through on goal, and the striker made no mistake, scoring past a hapless Priyansh to make it 3-0.

“I’m really proud of the effort that my players have put in throughout this tournament, right from the zonal stages. We have improved massively during the course of these last six months and these boys have shown a lot of heart and desire in training and during the games to reach this final. I would like to congratulate RFYC on their victory,” said Rajan Mani post the result.
