Blue Colts Begin Final Round With 3-1 Win Over Salgaocar

Chandan, Vinith And Rohit On Target As Rajan Mani’s U13 Boys Win Opening Clash In Group B Of Sub Junior League

Margao, Goa: Bengaluru FC’s U13s began their final round campaign in the Hero Sub Junior League with a 3-1 win over Salgaocar in Group B, in a clash that was held at the Don Bosco Ground, in Margao, Goa. Chandan Biju, Vinith Venkatesh and Rohit Negi were on the scoresheet for the Blue Colts before Salgaocar captain Rui Carlo de Piedade Noronha pulled one back for the Goa-based side.

In a game that Rajan Mani’s side dominated from start to finish, it took just ten minutes for BFC to break the deadlock as skipper Gautam Rajesh started a move that Chandan Biju would finish. Having played BFC Soccer Schools graduate Aditya Kalasur through, the midfielder cut it past the goalkeeper and squared it for Chandan to finish from close range.

Just shy of the half hour mark, Bengaluru FC doubled their lead and this time it was the high press that paid off. Pushing forward in a bid to regain possession, Vinith intercepted a pass from a Salgaocar defender and took one touch before sending a shot from outside the box into the top corner, past a hapless Akash Singh in the Salgaocar goal.

Bengaluru came out and scored a third just five minutes later, as Rohit’s left-footed free-kick made its way through the crowd in the Salgaocar box and evaded the ‘keeper’s effort to make it 3-0. Salgaocar would pull one back through Noronha, who finished past BFC ‘keeper Priyansh Dubey after being played through by midfielder Joean Simoes, but the Blue Colts would ensure that the scoreline remained unchanged thereafter, keeping possession to gain three points on the table.

Bengaluru FC will next face Parappur FC in their second clash, set to be held at the same venue, on Wednesday, May 15th.
