Haokip, Lastborn Bag ’Tricks As Young Blues Cement Top Spot
Bellary: Bengaluru FC continued their rampant form with their third straight double-figured win as they thrashed Ananthapur Sports Academy 12-0 in a third round encounter of the Hero Junior League at the Bidyanagar Township in Bellary on Monday.
The huge win was powered by striker Sonminthang Haokip (4′, 7′, 36′, 39′, 45+1′) who came up with an incredible five-goal effort in the first half along with medio Lastborn Mawphniang (18′, 57′, 61′) who bagged a treble. FC Lalhmunmawia (6′) and skipper Bekey Oram (55′) too got on the scoresheet before Manish Chaudhary (87′) and Lalthangliana (90+1′) scored late on to complete the rout.
The win took the Young Blues’ tally to nine points from three games as they strengthen their grip at the summit of Group A in the Bengaluru Zone.
Ajay Chorge’s boys now travel to Bengaluru where they will play four back-to-back away games starting with the clash against Raman Sports Academy at the Centre for Sports Excellence in Yelahanka on April 21.
