The Boss Discusses The Goalless Draw In Bhutan…
On the result…
It was about being a little more aggressive in attack, because Transport United were comfortable at the back. We didn’t create too many chances in the first half, and so we needed to be more aggressive if we wanted to score. I think that we played better in the second half, but it was not enough. I think at the end, it was a fair result.
On fielding a youthful squad…
Most players who started today haven’t played much in the ISL. May be a few have, but they too haven’t played all matches. We have big squad and it’s also good for the players to show what they’re capable of. Our primary objective is to qualify for the next stage in the AFC Cup, and those who played were really good today. Not all players can play every single game, and if they’re playing for Bengaluru, they’re good enough. I’m happy with their performance, even though we might not have achieved the desired result, but their attitude was very good.
On the team composition for the second leg…
I am happy with the balance and the performance. I don’t expect to make a lot of changes and I think we can win at home with the team that played. But we need see what is best for the team and be a little more aggressive. It’s very important for us to progress further in this competition. To win at home, it needs to be a better performance and I trust my team for the job.
On takeaways from the game…
Despite not scoring, the team kept control of the game. They played well throughout the game and didn’t commit any major mistake. But the most important thing in football is to score, and we lacked in that department today. So yes, we do need to keep training hard to improve.
