It’s our job to get the result we need in Bangladesh: Roca

The Boss Opens Up About The Big Win Over Aizawl, The Chances Of Making The Play-Off Stages And How Proud He Is To Be Part Of The BFC Family…

On a thumping win in the last match at home this season…

I’m very happy with the performance, because we have shown what we’re capable of. We had a bad game in the Maldives, and we’ve managed to turn things around quickly with a solid result. I’m happy for all the players and the entire BFC family as well. We showed that we are at the top, and even if we make a mistake, we will try to bounce back. We will now be targeting a victory in Bangladesh and we know it won’t be easy, but it’s our job to go out there and get a result. We’ll try to get a win and then wait to see (if we make it through).

On his thoughts on the Blues’ longest ever season…

It’s been an almost outstanding season. Yes, the fact to fall short in a final is always hard to take, but we went and won a trophy after that which isn’t easy. It’s football and we have to learn and look forward and try to do it again next year.  We have to give our best and be consistent as we did. Football is not easy, and we have to take it week by week. We’re now focusing on the game, as our season isn’t over yet. It’s an important game and we’re aiming to do everything possible to win and to hope that the result in the other game helps us.

On winning something on a continental stage…

Honestly, I would like to win everything that is there. But we have to be honest with ourselves, the qualification is not in our hands. We just have to keep working as we have an opportunity (to make it through). So let’s see if we are able to win there (in Dhaka). It’s important to be there and keep fighting, and right now, the most important thing is to keep working as a team that we have been all season. (In terms of winning) Why not? If not this year, could be next year. But the only way to win something at the continental level is to keep improving. I think if we keep working like this it will give us a chance to win an international cup.

On whether Aizawl will pull off a result against New Radiant…

I think they are very professional. They came here today knowing that they didn’t have a chance, but they put on a fight, and that’s what important. I’m sure their players will fight against New Radiant, but that’s not something we should talk about. We’re focused on our team and what we want from ourselves in the last game. If we don’t qualify, I will not blame my team. Mistakes and errors happen but we have to keep fighting with the right mentality.

On his future with the club and the appreciation by the fans…

I don’t want to talk about my future, I only want to talk about the game. I really appreciate the supporters, not only today but the entire season. Regarding the players and the staff, they’ve always shown love to everyone. I’m very proud to be part of the Bengaluru FC family. It’s always a great experience here.
