BFC ‘B’ Bounce Back To Winning Ways; Lalrinfela Nets In Injury Time
Bengaluru: Bengaluru FC ‘B’ bounced back to winning ways with a thrilling come-from-behind 3-2 win over South United in a BDFA Super Division League encounter at the Bangalore Football Stadium, on Tuesday. In a battle of equal exchanges, the Blues trumped South United in dramatic fashion, with Lalrinfela’s 88th minute winner settling the tie.
After a goalless first half, the game burst to life in the second with both teams sharing five goals. While it was South United who broke the deadlock in the 61st minute, BFC ‘B’ pulled level a minute later at the other end after Lalengzama scored from close range capitalizing on a scramble inside the box.
Skipper Myron Mendes then put Bengaluru 2-1 up in the 68th minute after playing a wall-pass with Lalengzama before firing home a left-footer. While it looked that the Blues would seal the game, South United were handed a lifeline as Asheer Akhtar’s own goal leveled the scores late in the game. The defender, who was running back on a counter attack, ended up putting the ball in his own net after goalkeeper Biswa’s attempted parry had the ball in the former’s path.
The Blues however, didn’t give up and finally managed to seal the points after Lalrinfela netted in the 88th minute, tapping home winger Sk. Azaruddin’ cross in from the left.
The game also saw the return of winger Bidyananda Singh to action after recovering from a knee injury. The youngster came on in the second half and looked sharp throughout.
