Myron, Leon On Target As Blues’ Reserve Side Record 2-1 Win In Penultimate BDFA Super Division Clash
Bengaluru: Bengaluru FC’s B team recorded their sixth win in the BDFA Super Division League as goals from Myron Mendes and Leon Augustine, on either side of a Litonshil strike, saw Naushad Moosa’s men claim a 2-1 win over MEG at the Bangalore Football Stadium, in Bengaluru, on Saturday.
The Blues’ reserve side started on the offensive as strikes from Lalengzama Vangchhia and Leon Augustine went wide of the MEG frame. Less than a quarter of an hour into the game, Leon sent in a cross that was cleared only for skipper Myron to curl in a left-footed effort past the MEG ‘keeper from the edge of the area.
MEG were rewarded for their persistence as Litonshil climbed higher than his marker to nod home the equalizer from close moments before half-time. Entering the second half with renewed vigour, Moosa rung in a few changes as Ajay Chettri and Shelton Paul were brought on.
Chettri had a shout for a penalty denied when the MEG custodian brought him down in the 74th minute. Lalengzama’s effort from close went over the bar as frustration began to creep into the camp. However, it was the substitute Chettri who set up the equalizer after his marauding run down the flank saw a cut back that Leon clipped over the MEG ‘keeper to score his first goal of the campaign fifteen minutes from time.
The BFC reserve side stay in second place on the table with 19 points from nine games and next face ASC&C in their final encounter of the 2018 BDFA Super Division League.
