Bengaluru FC ‘B’ Through To GV Raja Tournament Semis
Bengaluru: It was double delight for Bengaluru FC as both, the Under-15s and BFC ‘B’ began their competitive season with wins on Friday. While the Blue Colts logged a 1-0 win over Roots Football School at the Centre of Excellence grounds in Yelahanka, BFC ‘B’ advanced to the semifinal in Kerala with 2-1 win over Viva Chennai.
With the win in the Under-15 Youth League opener, Bengaluru FC (3 points) put up their first points on the board, and moved to the top of the Karnataka Zone standings along with Ozone FC, but are second on goal difference.
The Blues who dominated proceedings for majority of the game, took the lead through attacker Saikat Das in the 15th minute. The youngster managed to create space inside the box and found the top corner at the far post from the left. With more chances falling for Bengaluru FC throughout the game, some resolute defending from Roots Football School kept the scoreline 1-0.
Meanwhile, Bengaluru FC ‘B’ too logged a dominant win in their first ever competitive game, brushing aside Viva Chennai 2-1 in the quarterfinals of the GV Raja All India Football Tournament at the Chandrassekharan Nair Stadium, in Thiruvananthapuram.
Second half goals from Amal Das (48th) and Cletus Paul (58th) put BFC B in the driving seat before Viva Chennai pulled one back late in the 89th minute to cut the deficit. The win sees the Blues move into the semifinal of the competition, and will now face Indian Navy at the same venue on 29th October at 4.00pm.
