The Gaffer Was A Relieved Man After Watching His BFC Side Take Away All Three Points Against Mumbai FC At The Fortress On Saturday Night. He Spoke About Lyngdoh’s Return To The Side, The Electric Atmosphere Bengaluru Created And How His Boys Are Keen To Pull Themselves Across The Line
His analysis of the team’s performance
It was a physical game and the lads gave everything they’ve got, which they always do. No question marks regarding that. We had a decent game plan that was working and went down the flanks fairly easily.
Despite being a little wasteful in the final third, we kept huffing and puffing and thankfully Daniel came on and scored. It was one of those games that we should definitely have won and if we hadn’t we’d be kicking ourselves. Thankfully, it’s the reverse of that as we’ve got the three points and the lads are in great spirits.
On Eugene’s return from injury
Eugene played well. I was a little fearful of taking players off because I thought I was going to have to take Eugene off after 65 or 70 minutes because I didn’t really want him to play the 90. But he kept going and his fitness was good and he showed that by getting a little bit stronger towards the end.
On the atmosphere at the Fortress
If you look across countries all over the world, there are derbies like the obvious ones, like the Manchester Derby and then there are others like Arsenal vs Manchester United which are based on history.
We have history with Mumbai with the shenanigans in and around the touchline before and we’ve never beaten them, which adds extra spice. The fans were in fine form and if I was an away coach and I had that behind me it would actually spur me on. Nobody likes a quiet ground or quiet fans so for me, it’s all welcome.
On the Blues’ chances of winning the League
We’ve got a 33% chance because there are three teams in the hunt for the title. You can never plan too far in football as there’s still a lot of football to be played. We’ve got a chance and that’s all you can ask. We’re in good spirits and form and we’re ready for the final straight. Hopefully the players can put the bit between their teeth, as they say, and kick-on and there will be enough in the tank to get us over the line.
