Bengaluru beat J&K State FA, to face Sudeva FC in semifinal

Rajan Mani’s Side End Group Stage With Perfect Record Ahead Of Penultimate Clash On Monday

Bengaluru FC’s U13 side kept their winning streak intact with a 2-1 win over J&K State FA in their final Group B clash of the Hero Sub Junior League, at the Don Bosco Ground, in Goa, on Friday. Having finished as winners of their group, Rajan Mani’s side will face Delhi-based Sudeva FC in their semifinal, scheduled to be held on Monday.

In a game that started as a cagey affair, striker Yodhin Rishyak broke the deadlock on the 24th minute mark, pressing high up the field to force the opposition into conceding possession. Intercepting a weak pass, Rishyak drove forward and beat the J&K left-back before sending a shot that had a bit too much on it and made its way past Tahseen Muzafar in the J&K goal at his near post.

Into the second period, the Blue Colts wasted no time in doubling their advantage as Gautam found his name in the scoresheet just three minutes in. Found in space by a pass from Mir Mohammed Moosa, the skipper took a touch and sent a shot that found its way into the back of the net off the crossbar and a diving Muzafar.

Ten minutes later, J&K pulled one back through Faizan Waheed against the run of play. Found through on goal by a pass from Ali Rizvi, Waheed beat the advances of Vinith Venkatesh in the BFC goal and slotted home to make it 2-1. Bengaluru would then keep possession in midfield to see the game out and secure their perfect record.

“We are very happy as a squad to go into the semifinal unbeaten because it gives us some level of confidence in our abilities, but at the same time there are several things that I would like to assess over the course of this weekend. We have two days to recover, rest, prepare and then we take on Sudeva, who are a very good team, in the semifinal,” said U13 Head Coach Rajan Mani following the win.

The Blue Colts will take on Sudeva FC in their semifinal clash, set to take place at the Navelim Ground, at 4 pm on Monday, May 20th.
