Bengaluru and Jamshedpur put on a good show, says Cuadrat

The Boss Talks About A Tough Draw At The Fortress And Crucial Moments In The Game

On the defensive lapses that allowed Jamshedpur to level twice…

It happens in football. The last goal was because of a rebound where the clearance went straight to their player. I think our players did very well defensively, and if you see the numbers, they had about two shots on goal, and they scored twice. We had some chances to increase our lead and make it 2-0, and then later 3-1. But when you’re only leading by a goal, then these things can happen.

On Jamshedpur’s playing style…

I said before the game, that they have got in the kind of Spanish players who are very good on the ball. We expected their style of play. They had an option of a target man in Cahill who is very good in the air and the other option was to play on the ground. It was the game that we were expecting. I had told my players how important it was to score first and it was a good game at 1-0. We try to score the second, and we did have chances to do that. When you don’t, we’re aware that anything can happen in the last few moments. The last three games in the ISL have just shown that. We were trying to avoid that, but they somehow got the ball into that position. That is why football is a wonderful game, because you try to control so many things, but one event can change the course of the game. For the neutral it was a nice game with so much action and emotion, and I think both Bengaluru and Jamshedpur put on a good show.

On Nishu Kumar’s goal…

I always tell my players to be offensive. We have two very good central defenders in Juanan and Serran who are strong behind. So, I want my full backs to push forward and provide attacking options to the team. Nishu did very well with that and he scored a wonderful goal.

On the missed opportunity late on…

It was a perfectly weighted pass by Miku and we almost had the goal, but it hit the post. Sometimes when you have so much time to decide where to put the ball, it becomes difficult. It was accidental from Chhetri, of course. But then it was a great through ball. It was a wonderful move and you can just imagine that if we would’ve scored, the Fortress would’ve been overjoyed. We have to wait for another game to give them that moment.

On the Blues having less share of possession…

You have to understand that football belongs to players as they are the one’s taking the decisions on the field. Once Dimas is on the pitch, he is confident of giving a rhythm to the game of passing and moving. Without him, it’s possible that you don’t have that many clear passes and you have to try some long balls. But it’s not like that’s a Plan A or Plan B. The aim is to beat the other team, and you have to use the weapons that you have in your team at that time.
